Pointy!

With three years of posts and a shockingly high Google ranking, the Carnivore Project gets a lot of spam. Most of which is duly ignored.

This one, however, actually made me raise an eyebrow - and then register. Essentially, in turn for signing up for a catalogue of professional cookwares, you're entered in a drawing for $1000 worth of dangerously sharp Dexter-Russell knife-like objects. (US residents only - overseas, you're required to continue eating with your hands).

So, yes, future spammers of the world, take heart. This one worked.

Bacon: A Love Story (Pre-Orders)

Without even seeing the cover, I'm going to go out on a (short) limb and say that this will be the book of the year.

Heather Lauer is the blogger behind Bacon Unwrapped, an unrivalled bacon expert and the reigning champion of the Carnivore Project's Meat Bracket for her spirited championship of bacon. She's also a published author, with this recent announcement of "Bacon: A Love Story", coming from Collins.

"Bacon: A Love Story" hits the shelves in May. You should pre-order. (If it sits around too long, it gets cold and greasy).

John Torode's Beef

The TV chef and (more importantly) mastermind behind Smiths of Smithfield has a new book out as of September 19th, succinctly entitled, 'Beef'. As well as recipes, it includes a 'fold-out poster showing cuts of meat' and, entertainingly, a 'gatefold visual showing how to cook beef for 100'. (Handy)

Signed and personalised copies are available from the restaurant or just buy it online.

Vomit Sticker Pack

Vomitstickers

As the designer of these stickers, Kenjon Bajus, says, "Aside from the many social, political, environmental, health, etc... reasons not to eat McDeez, it just doesn’t taste good."

Stick it to the man for $5.

Gluttony: Doctor Who Style

St12_sevendeadlysins_big Being raised in Kansas City and not in 'New Europe', the Doctor Who phenomenon is pretty confusing to me. I've never seen a show. From observing the gift racks at 'Forbidden Planet', I've deduced that a Victorian dandy is menaced by air conditioners. With the help of Kylie Minogue, he escapes through time. Repeatedly.

Despite my ignorance, a copy of Seven Deadly Sins wound up on my bookcase, and, desperate for escape from a broken boiler (not so different?), I read it cover to cover last night...

A few more gift ideas from the World's Finest News Source, including Tater Mitts, Toilet Monsters and...

Bacon20bandages_0

Patterned Band-Aids, off-brand and otherwise, are nothing new. But how about patterned Band-Aids that look like meat? These kind of greasy-looking adhesive bandages, available via a variety of novelty online retailers, make getting hurt fun! Just watch out for people trying to lick your wounds for you. Or push your damaged limbs into a hot frying pan. Or chop you up with some tasty eggs and scallions. Wait, maybe these are a bad idea after all.

The Axis of Evil Cookbook

Don't let anyone distract you with talk about the Wii, iPhone or Kindle - this year's ultimate Christmas present? The Axis of Evil Cookbook!

"Ever wondered what an Axis of Evil leader eats after a day spent threatening neighboring countries with weapons of mass destruction? This unique cookbook tells you how to prepare these dishes in the safety of your own home."

Of course, if that's all a little highbrow (not to mention, inedible), there's always the Beef Log...
